I Need a Hero: Henry and I are not on speaking terms, and for the record, he started it. You see, Henry, my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who descends from royalty, refuses to save my life. And on this, he won’t budge. Not that…

Walk for Animals: It was a beautiful, breezy day on Saturday, when my team, Clifford’s Crew, took part in the San Diego Humane Society’s Walk for Animals. Frankly, I can’t remember when I enjoyed myself more.  It was such HOWLING fun!!

Meet Oliver Twist: Cook says I’ve been remiss in not revealing something of significance, but if truth be known, I saw no point. After all, why stir up news of a troubling nature?

The Further Misadventures of Henry:  Today, for the first time, I present two stories about Henry, my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. That’s two for the price of one!

Say it Ain’t So!   Yesterday morning Henry, my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, jumped on my bed, and gave me the usual stare-down. The one he gives me every morning, compelling me to get up, get out of bed, drag a comb across my head, and then make my way down to the kitchen to feed him.

15 Minutes of Fame:  I, Henry the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who descends from royalty, have found my calling! Not to mention what promises to be my ticket back to the royal throne!..

The Game’s Afoot! While most know me as a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, who descends from royalty, I’m also somewhat of a detective enthusiast, having cut my teeth on the stories and lore of Detective Sherlock Holmes…

Do I Look Like a Mr. Chewy?  Dear Diary, I have my undies in a twist. Oh, yes, I know what you’re thinking. I don’t wear undies. But if I did…well, suffice it to say, I’m peeved with Cook…

The Cavalier King Writes Again: Dear Diary, I’m on tenterhooks, awaiting news of the Queen’s Jubilee. Each morning, when Cook leaves for the day, I switch the channel on the telly to the BBC, in hopes that I will learn more about preparations for the festivities. I pray I soon secure my passage to Britain, so that I, too, may partake in the most anticipated event of the century!..

A Dog’s Diary: It’s a new year and in honor of it, I, too, have made a resolution. I would have told you sooner, but this is the first time this year that Cook has permitted me to post. Rather cheeky of her, I’d say, seeing how she knows I am a dog with much on my mind. And a royal one at that!..

And They Call it Puppy Love: While Cook is distracted with the holiday festivities, and not showing an iota of interest in blogging, I am coming to the rescue. As fortune would have it, I get to write another post. Herewith, is a list detailing how we’ve been spending the holiday thus far…

To the Manor Born:  As I write this, I am being held captive in a condo, somewhere in California. Of all places. Do not ask me how I came to be here, as I cannot recall…

Henry the Blogger: If you ask me, my dog, Henry, is getting kind of uppity.  Sure, he’s a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, which means he descends from royalty…

Henry’s Medical Pickle: Quick! I need to figure out fast how to put Henry on my health insurance plan.  Apparently, in my ongoing effort to maintain the standard of living in which this Cavalier King Charles Spaniel has become accustomed, he’s costing me a fortune. So I’m wondering, can I claim him as my spouse or partner?  After all, he does tend to nag me a lot…

His Dog, Henry: The balance of power has tipped in my home. Henry, my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, my pampered pet whom I’ve always made sure to treat like the royal descendant that he is, has switched his allegiance. Hook, line and sinker...

Henry’s Obsession: I’ve always said, nothing but the best for my dog, Henry. As a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, he has royalty in his blood. Which is why, when he was a mere pup, Henry went to daycare.  And not a daycare for pets, mind you. Henry was enrolled at the best home childcare center for little tykes in the county, and it is run by my very good friend, Gale (who, you might remember, is the Real Ms. Fix-it)

A dog, a baby and two pacifiers.

Henry and Gale’s grandson enjoy their pacifiers.

A Dog of a Trip: My dog, Henry, is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel that doesn’t get out much. He spends most of his day slumming around the house, looking for a cozy place to nap. I, on the other hand, spend most of my days hard at work and wracked with guilt for leaving His Royal Highness alone all day…

It’s a Dog’s Life: My Henry is very high maintenance. Even more so than me. He’s a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, which means he sees his groomer precisely every four weeks, whereas I’m lucky if I can see my hairstylist every eight weeks. During Henry’s last visit, his groomer informed me that she can feel some tension in the back of his neck and that it might be from stress. That I should try to massage his neck and shoulders, on a weekly basis, to help Henry alleviate this stress…

Can Henry be a Hachi–or a Hooch?: I have a thing for movies about dogs. Show me the hokiest, dumbest movie you can think of, but if there’s a dog in it, I’m all over it. These movies know how to tug at your heart and leave you feeling sappy all over. If you ask me, dogs in film have a heightened charm factor. Think Marley, Benji, Old Yeller and Lassie. Deep down they were each appealing in their own way. Even crazy-eyed Cujo had that certain something…

Neighborhood Watch: I am part of a neighborhood watch. Ok, full disclosure: It’s just a neighborhood watch of one, namely, me. But it’s a job I take seriously. Keeping my eyes peeled, always alert for strange noises and questionable behavior, with my cell phone at the ready to call the police, if warranted. After all, desperate times call for desperate measures. And even though my neighborhood is what the police call “safe,” I feel it’s best to be prepared because you just never know…

  2. Last summer I posted a little story on my wordpress blog –– In the Wake of Discovery –– also titled Dog Days, about my Chihuahua Dogzilla. Its so much fun to write about my him because IMHO he has more personality than lots of humans I know. And he never talks back, doesn’t eat a lot, and isn’t yappy because I trained him using a book I love, with the catchy title “The Tao of Bow Wow.” He’s the constant traveling companion of my husband and me and, unfortunately, while I can find many bargains on airline seats for us, his generally cost more than ours. Sigh.
This is my first post on She Writes.

    • Thank you for visiting my blog. Glad you found my Dog Days page. Your Chihuahua sounds precious. Aren’t dogs the best? They really are such devoted friends. I absolutely adore mine, and it sounds like you feel the same about yours. 😉

  3. I just stumbled backward into your blog (via She Writes, which I also stumbled backward into…now I’m dizzy!) Love the posts about the pooches.

    • Doesn’t matter to me how you get here, I’m just thrilled you stopped by, stumbles and all (lol). Yep, my dog is something else, which makes him very special. Don’t you just love She Writes? If you haven’t already, please check out–and join–a new group I helped get started, SheWrites Volunteers. Check it out!

  4. I love your dog. He is so cute. Henry is adorable with the pacifier in his mouth. I also have a wordpress.com blog and I saw your blog when I logged in among the blogs that were featured.

    • Thanks, Susie. Henry thanks you, too. He loves pacifiers but can only hold them in his mouth so long before he starts chewing them to pieces. Glad you discovered my blog and do hope you’ll stop by again. 😉

  5. Thank you for stopping by and complimenting my Dexter..I must say Henry is quite the looker too! I absolutely love the photo of him with the pacifier in his mouth!!!

    • Dexter is deliciously sweet and sly, too. How lucky you are to have a home full of dogs. It’s all I can do to keep up with Henry (and blogging). Don’t you just love the Lady Blogger’s Tea Party? It’s so much fun! 🙂
