It’s My Birthday, Bitches!

The Lips Bar where the Mimosas and Bloody Marys pour freely.

Yesterday was my birthday, and to celebrate I thought I’d try something fun and exciting.

After all, when the kids have flown the coop, and all that’s left in your empty nest is you and a dog that thinks he descends from royalty—which, I might add, is his Number One excuse for not having to take out the trash—it’s time to pull out all the stops!

Thankfully, I work with the most amazing group of smart and savvy women. And, if you ask me, we’re not just working together, we’re having fun!  It’s nonstop merriment and mayhem. For, even the most mundane of tasks can be made all the more fascinating because of them.

Yes, I adore them all!  (And, Jack, if you’re reading this, this goes for you, too. 😉 After all, you’re a terrific assistant!)

Which is why, a few of us got together and headed over to Lips for a dining and show experience that was out of this world!

We’re talking Drag Queens, bitches!

Oh, yes, these gals call everyone bitches–and, it’s a badge of honor when it’s directed to you! They also keep the innuendos flying, never missing a beat.

On Sundays, they offer their World Famous Gospel Brunch, hosted by “Sister Nun-of-the-Above,” who bares a close resemblance to Cher. But, believe you me, there’s nothing religious about this brunch—though they do take up a collection for the “drag queen orphans.”

See for yourself, all the fun we had:

From Left: Suzanne, Clare and her sister, Hannah, me and Ashley.

Isn’t this the greatest group of gals you ever saw? Present company excluded, of course. Clockwise from left: Hannah, Ashley, Suzanne, Ana, Me, Susan, Trisha and Val.

Sister None-of-the-Above got us all going with the rousing Drag Queen anthem, “We Are Family.”

The hits kept coming, thanks to these hot mamas!

From Left: Ana, Susan, Trisha and Val. Trisha organized the whole celebration. You are awesome, Trish!

And a fun time was had by all! Thanks, Bitches, for making my day!

  1. Oh Monica, what fun you’ve had. You look lovely. I don’t know how I’ve been missing all your posts. I haven’t got any new ones and I thought it was because of the blogging project, but when I checked there are at least 3 I haven’t seen. I am still following you. How strange.

    • How strange indeed! I am so glad you persevered and checked back. Btw, I saw the photo you submitted to Ash and I must say you are beautiful and oh so lovely! You should be featuring your pic on your blog!

      • I have to catch up on your posts. Maybe I should un- follow and then follow again… it really is very strange. Thank you, you are too sweet. I thought about adding my photo, but then felt a little shy and wanted to keep my anonymity, so it never happened. Maybe I will, now 🙂
I just sent you and Ashley my new post.

      • Yes, got it, tweeted it and am about to add it to my Race2012 page. Ashley will arrange for it to post to the Race FB page. She pre-schedules them so that all the blogs don’t get posted at once.

  2. So cool to see you are a supporter of the gay lifestyle alot of people arent !!! love the blog and pics !!!

  3. That was so much fun, Monica!! Thanks so much for including me in the bday festivities! I have to make it back there. 🙂

  4. Happy Birthday, Monica! This post is fantastic! The photos are a hoot! It looks like all of you had so much fun. Nothing like a group of drag queens to liven up the evening! hee hee! I’m so happy to see you having a good time, chica! 🙂

    • Bella, you would have loved it. I really wish you could have been there! I felt like I was inside “The Birdcage” or that Patrick Swayze film, “To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar.” It was smokin’! Tee-hee!

  5. So much fun! I truly think we need to incorporate “bitches” into our daily work conversations just a little more. This may be a bit risky with HR so close by. We’ll just have to make certain that Bitch talk is only used on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday! 🙂

    • I’m with you. More bitch talk whenever possible. What I’d love is for Sister None-of-the-Above to come over now and then and entertain us with her engaging personality. How cool would that be?

  6. Wow, that Jack fella sure must be lucky to work with such a fun, smart, hardworking, and beautiful group of women!

Happy Birthday Monica, I hope you had a “bitchin” good time!
